HTML5 – Browser Ability

Doing a quick test of the major browsers (on OSX Snow Leopard) and of the 160 HTML5 features tested these are the scores:

Chrome 5.0.342.9b 137
Safari 4.0.5 113 (this is the score I got on Chrome Windows which suggests an older version of Webkit)
Opera 10.10 38 (I expected much better from Opera as they’re normally very quick to implement)
Firefox 3.6.3 31
IE8 19

Well that’s a bunch of fascinating numbers. I think we can take away from that a simple fact: Internet Explorer is shit.

Internet Explorer 8 is very good because it is as stable as Opera. I hate the previous versions of IE like IE6 because it hangs frequently. *

    I score 100 with Firefox 3.5.9 and 101 with 3.6.3 (both on Snow Leopard)…

As always and as expected Internet Explorer, the number one browser in the world, still falls behind. I just wish the entire world would wake up to the fact that Internet Explorer alternatives cost absolutely nothing to obtain.

Yes sir you have the choice of any vehicle on this lot of new cars with any colour (skins) and any extras such as leather seats and power windows and power brakes (all plugins) and unlimited free warranty and free maintenance (upgrades) and you still choose the Toyota Camry with sticky accelerator (Internet Explorer) over say a Jaguar (Firefox) or a Rolls Royce (Opera)? Why is that sir? Because I am a complete dumbfuck that is why sir.

Thanks for responding to this Lux. I appreciate it when people post after me because I get an email response and it gives me a chance to see how false or true my old posts were. I think this one is still true but then again its only been a few months. This internet thing is the best technology to come in my lifetime. It truly is revolutionizing the world.
